Welcome Back Lafayette, I hope that you all had a restful and relaxing spring break.  Back at school we have begun our Smarter Balanced Assessment testing.  This year our standardized testing is staggered because all students take the SBAC testing online.  The fifth graders begin their Language Arts portion this week.  Fourth and third graders will take the Language Arts portion next week and the week after.  Afterwards students will be tested in mathematics in a similar staggered schedule.  This year we are scheduling SBAC testing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  If your child is absent we will have make up days.  Your student’s teachers will provide specific information about specific dates and times for upcoming testing.  In any case is is very important that your children be present during the month of April and the beginning of May.  Thank you. Please check out the Pax Good Behavior Game flyer.  Next week Dennis Embry, the founder of the PAX GBG, will be presenting before our PTA meeting in the Lafayette Auditorium from 6 PM to 7:30 PM.  Lafayette is very lucky to host Mr. Embry and parents and teachers from around the district will be coming to learn more about the Social Emotional Learning game.  At Lafayette teachers regularly play the PAX game to practice best behaviors and defer gratification.  If you would like to hear more about this program we would love to see you next Wednesday at 6 PM.  YMCA is providing child care during this presentation. Finally, I want to appreciate all the parents and community members that helped make the Lafayette production of Aladdin Jr....
