Have you taken pictures of your children at school events this year? We would love to see them! Here is what our yearbook layout is going to look like this year: Each Lafayette classroom will have two full-color pages in the yearbook. The layout will consist of the Fall Class Picture with student names and approximately 8 more pictures to fill in the 2-page layout. An additional number of candid pictures will be spread throughout the yearbook. Pictures should be approximately 300 dpi in size – jpeg preferred. When uploading please add the room number, teacher name and or the name of the event featured in the pictures. If your class has not taken any group pictures this year please email us, and we can set up a time to take pictures.  It’s really important to us that all children make it into the yearbook. Lafayette’s Annual Spell-a-thon kicks off December 4th!

Lafayette’s Annual Spell-a-thon kicks off December 4th and the test will take place the week of January 8-12th. This is a fun and educational fundraiser. It is a great way for students to learn new words, while supporting our Lafayette community and preparing for the school-wide Spelling Bee on January 17th. Your child will learn to spell 20 words (Kindergarten) or 25 words (Grades 1-5), while your family and friends reward his/her effort with a tax-deductible donation to Lafayette Elementary PTA. Donations raised will be used to fund teacher stipends for Field Trips & Classroom Supplies.   Please help your child:  Learn the spelling words on the Word List. Obtain sponsors (download pledge form here). Our minimum goal is at least 3 sponsors or $25 per student. Each test has 5 BONUS WORDS this year! These more challenging words are worth double the pledged amount per word. Collect the pledge money from their sponsors. Pledge forms are due back to school on January 8th. Place donations in an envelope along with the completed pledge form and return to your child’s teacher by January 29th. Please make checks payable to “Lafayette PTA”. The Annual Giving Campaign Committee is sponsoring this new community event to bring our school community together while celebrating Chinese Culture. Dim Sum will be served in the cafeteria starting at 10AM and again after the dance performances.  Dance performances will be held in the auditorium at 10:30AM (China Dance School & Theatre) & 11:00AM (Xian Yun Academy of the Arts CA). Thank You to everyone who donated to this year’s Annual Give Campaign (AGC). It was our most successful campaign to date in both amount raised and participation rate! In gratitude, Lafayette PTA’s AGC is hosting a Family Movie Night featuring the movie SING! With the nice April weather this weekend, we just couldn’t  help it.  We are moving the movie party outside.  We will have it in the yard, and it will start a bit later than 7 because of the sun. When:  Saturday, April 29th Time:  Arrive a little before 7PM, Movie starts at 7:00PMish (due to change of venue to outside viewing – we will start the movie when it is dark) Location:  Lafayette Elementary (Outside Yard) Admission:  FREE (popcorn will be served) A few very important details: Bring a low chair or blanket. Bring a chair, blanket, tarp or something to sit on. Bring a jacket, hat, scarf, sleeping bag, etc. – it still is San Francisco. It’s that time of year! Scripts are being read, music choreographed, and costumes and sets being discussed! The crew is very excited. Please see below for all signup and audition information for the school play.  All Grades Can Pre-Register at the Spirit Friday Table This Friday Morning (November 18th). Kindergarten & First Grade: Please sign up for a special chorus number the week of November 28th. All K-1st graders who sign up are automatically in a chorus. Auditions for Upper Grades Only (2-5) All 2nd-5th grade children are welcome to audition and everyone who auditions will be part of the play. Kezar Fun Run This Saturday (Nov. 19)

This Saturday is the Fun Run at Kezar Stadium!! Pre-registration ended today. However, registration will continue on race day starting at 9:00am during warm ups. Come out with the family for a day of healthy exercise while supporting our school, students, and wonderful teachers. There will be a post-race picnic in the meadows outside of Kezar Stadium.   Race t-shirts for all families who registered by last week Thursday will be delivered to your child’s classroom this week.   Pledges for those children who are running in the pledge-per-laps run or walked race are due back to school on Monday, November 28th, after the Thanksgiving Break! Return pledges to: Front Office PTA folder or your child’s teacher’s PTA Envelope.   Each child will receive a certificate of completion after the race with the number of laps completed indicated on the certificate. Please encourage family and friends to be generous with their donations over Thanksgiving Break.  The three students with the highest amount raised in pledges will each get a turn being Principal for the Day.  Students raising over $50 in pledges will get a stainless steel water bottle.  Students who raise over $100 in pledges will be entered into a raffle to win 4 rounds of golf at the Presidio Golf Course. Book Fair Is Coming (November 14-18)

The Book Fair is almost here! All Lafayette school children will visit the Book Fair once with their class, and it’s our goal that every child will leave with a new book.
