REGISTER TODAY for our 3rd Annual 5K and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk being held on Sunday, September 30th at Peacock Meadow in Golden Gate Park. Support Lafayette Elementary School academic programs while spending quality time with family and our community! All funds raised from this event will be used to support our school’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) programs. Elites, Weekend Warriors, Families, Strollers, and Wheelchairs are all welcome for the 5k Run or Walk or 1 mile Fun Run!! Dogs, however will have to stay home for this event. Chip timing is provided for the 5K only. This area of Golden Gate Park (JFK Dr.) is closed to cars on Sundays, so please come join us for the race and hang out afterwards for a picnic, bike ride, and just general community mingling!! Welcome incoming families to Lafayette! On behalf of Lafayette Elementary School and the New Family Committee, you are cordially invited to an informational orientation being held on Friday August 17th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am by Principal Jake Hodgson, PTA President Chris Smith, Kindergarten Teachers, and Staff. A free luncheon, provided by our PTA, will follow from 11:15 am – 12:30 pm in our cafeteria. Annual Giving Campaign (AGC) Update – We Are Almost There!

The Annual Giving Committee is doing another push to drive additional donations for the school year. This will help to secure some of the important programs the PTA funds including but not limited to Technology Consultant Position ( Ms. Tong), Librarian Assistant, Education Outside Science Teacher, online technology programs, Assemblies, Opera, Art in Action/Art in Residence Programs, Community Events: Dim Sum Saturday, Halloween, Multicultural Week, Spring School Play, Field Day & Autumn Carnival.   To date, the AGC has raised just over $101,000. As many families have expressed a desire to still donate, we have extended the end of the campaign to March 31, 2018.     As an additional incentive, (besides the best incentive- enrichment of your child’s education at Lafayette), the AGC is offering to host a movie party again this year for all Lafayette families, if we can reach $125K or get 100% participation by March 31. Movies, popcorn, friends, at the school – what could be better! Have you taken pictures of your children at school events this year? We would love to see them! Here is what our yearbook layout is going to look like this year: Each Lafayette classroom will have two full-color pages in the yearbook. The layout will consist of the Fall Class Picture with student names and approximately 8 more pictures to fill in the 2-page layout. An additional number of candid pictures will be spread throughout the yearbook. Pictures should be approximately 300 dpi in size – jpeg preferred. When uploading please add the room number, teacher name and or the name of the event featured in the pictures. If your class has not taken any group pictures this year please email us, and we can set up a time to take pictures.  It’s really important to us that all children make it into the yearbook. Thank You to everyone who donated to this year’s Annual Give Campaign (AGC). It was our most successful campaign to date in both amount raised and participation rate! In gratitude, Lafayette PTA’s AGC is hosting a Family Movie Night featuring the movie SING! With the nice April weather this weekend, we just couldn’t  help it.  We are moving the movie party outside.  We will have it in the yard, and it will start a bit later than 7 because of the sun. When:  Saturday, April 29th Time:  Arrive a little before 7PM, Movie starts at 7:00PMish (due to change of venue to outside viewing – we will start the movie when it is dark) Location:  Lafayette Elementary (Outside Yard) Admission:  FREE (popcorn will be served) A few very important details: Bring a low chair or blanket. Bring a chair, blanket, tarp or something to sit on. Bring a jacket, hat, scarf, sleeping bag, etc. – it still is San Francisco. Sign-up slots are still available for the Sing-a-long Community Experiences. These fun social events/learning opportunities for adults and/or children are hosted by Lafayette parents in an effort to raise money for the Lafayette PTA while socializing with other members of our school community.  All proceeds benefit our kids!
