Annual Give Campaign (AGC) Update

The Annual Give Committee is doing another push to drive additional donations for the school year. This will help to secure some of the important programs the PTA funds including but not limited to Teacher stipends for field trips, Technology program, Art in Action/Art in Residence Programs, School Play, Field Day, Autumn Carnival and Outdoor Science Education.

Association Meeting Summary: January 11, 2017

RECOGNITIONS Lisa McNey, Sharla Flock, C.J. Bergmen and Dave Martin for the Lafayette Cares Charity Event Amy Wimmer, Amy Winthrop, Amy Minasian, Rebekah Kurth and Maryanne Hunter for organizing the book fair which brought in $11,900.00. Michal for organizing the Spring school enrichment programs UPCOMING 2017 PTA EVENTS 1/16: Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday – NO SCHOOL 1/18: Spelling Bee 1/20: Spirit Friday 1/27: Lunar New Year – NO SCHOOL 1/30 – 2/3: Multicultural Week 2/2: Multicultural Night 2/15: PTA Town Hall Meeting (No evening PTA meeting will be held in February) 2/20: President’s Day 2/27 – 3/3: Parent Teacher Conference Week 3/8: Presentation on bullying. Mechele Pruitt of Parent’s Place will be giving a one hour presentation on bullying at the PTA meeting which begins at 7:00pm in the school cafeteria. The presentation will begin at 7:30pm. FINANCIAL REPORT All incoming deposits during this time period were from the book fair, Fun Run and Annual Give Campaign Expenses were for teacher supplies/grants and Fun Run expenses PRINCIPAL’S REMARKS The School Site Council (SSC) will be meeting on Thursday 2/2 at 5:45pm to brainstorm about what direction we want the school to go in. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Multicultural week is coming up and help is needed to run “Passport Around the World” which will take place on Friday 2/3. Iwaszewicz is heading a committee dedicated to organizing Blue Ribbon celebrations which are currently scheduled for the 1st week in March. Mark Your Calendars: Volunteer to Help Home Bound Seniors (December 14th)

Join the PTA and the RDNC volunteers in providing home bound seniors living in the Outer Richmond with the gift of warmth this holiday season!  This festive and fun family evening will involve making cards, decorating bags, and making or wrapping up blankets to be delivered to home bound seniors in our neighborhood. Auditions for Singin’ in the Rain Jr. (Nov 28 & 29)

It’s that time of year! Scripts are being read, music choreographed, and costumes and sets being discussed! The crew is very excited. Please see below for all signup and audition information for the school play.  All Grades Can Pre-Register at the Spirit Friday Table This Friday Morning (November 18th). Kindergarten & First Grade: Please sign up for a special chorus number the week of November 28th. All K-1st graders who sign up are automatically in a chorus. The signup sheet will be posted outside the auditorium or you can sign up online at http://lafayettedolphins.net/parentinfo/school-musical/. Auditions for Upper Grades Only (2-5) All 2nd-5th grade children are welcome to audition and everyone who auditions will be part of the play. Kezar Fun Run This Saturday (Nov. 19)

This Saturday is the Fun Run at Kezar Stadium!! Pre-registration ended today. However, registration will continue on race day starting at 9:00am during warm ups. Come out with the family for a day of healthy exercise while supporting our school, students, and wonderful teachers. There will be a post-race picnic in the meadows outside of Kezar Stadium.   Race t-shirts for all families who registered by last week Thursday will be delivered to your child’s classroom this week.   Pledges for those children who are running in the pledge-per-laps run or walked race are due back to school on Monday, November 28th, after the Thanksgiving Break! Return pledges to: Front Office PTA folder or your child’s teacher’s PTA Envelope.   Each child will receive a certificate of completion after the race with the number of laps completed indicated on the certificate. Please encourage family and friends to be generous with their donations over Thanksgiving Break.  The three students with the highest amount raised in pledges will each get a turn being Principal for the Day.  Students raising over $50 in pledges will get a stainless steel water bottle.  Students who raise over $100 in pledges will be entered into a raffle to win 4 rounds of golf at the Presidio Golf Course. Book Fair Is Coming (November 14-18)

The Book Fair is almost here! All Lafayette school children will visit the Book Fair once with their class, and it’s our goal that every child will leave with a new book. Parents, friends, and family are welcome to visit Book Fair, too! It runs from November 14th through the 18th. Volunteer In order for the Book Fair to be a fun event for everyone we need volunteers. 1st Annual Fun Run is on November 19th at Kezar Stadium

Register by November 4th to guarantee having your shirt by race day.  Drop by room 221 for the registration and pledge forms or download them below. Promote good health by running or walking around Kezar Stadium for a good cause. Join us for the 1st Annual Lafayette Elementary Fun Run! 100% of all proceeds raised will go toward supporting our outdoor education science, art & music programs, Field Trips and other fun educational activities at Lafayette Elementary. Participants can either run a # of laps for pledges in 15 or 30 minutes, or just run 1 mile around the track (4 laps). What does it cost to participate? $5 if running/walking a given # of laps with pledges per lap $20 if just running 1 mile (4 laps) with no pledges Can adults participate in the Fun Run?
