Welcome Back Lafayette!

Dear Lafayette Families, As the newly elected PTA president, it is my pleasure to welcome you all back to Lafayette for the 2016-17 school year. I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting our incoming families in the upcoming weeks. I have every confidence that this is going to be another outstanding year at Lafayette.   There are a lot of new and exciting things happening at Lafayette this year! Starting with several new additions to our teaching staff.  We wish our veteran teachers, Mrs. Alexandra Jeffrey and Ms. Debra Ferreir, all the best in their retirements and bid a fond farewell to Ms. Chelsea Roberts- 3rd Grade, Mr. Jimmy Simpson- Outdoor Education and our Special Education Team of Ms. Dawn Ehret and Ms. Rhoda Schwartz as they pursue new teaching endeavors. We are very grateful for the time each of them dedicated to Lafayette and our students.   We are thrilled to have both Mr. Robert Steinberg- Gr. 3 and Ms. Rachelle Hata- Gr. 4 returning to Lafayette again this year.  Join Mr. Caceres, the teachers and staff in welcoming the following new teachers to Lafayette:Ms. Celia Scully–Kindergarten for Ms. Darcie Chambers, Ms. Nita Arios who will be transitioning to the 2nd Grade, Ms. Trisha Hong- Gr. 3, Special Education: Ms. Gina Martinez DHH K-2 and Mr. Nick Manfred DHH Gr. 3-5, Resource Specialists: Ms. Jordan Paxhia and Ms. Nicole Sato and Outdoor Education Instructor: Ms. Ellie Marble. Stop, Drop and Go Needs 5 Volunteers Each Morning

Hello Lafayette Community! We hope you are having a wonderful summer. School is just about ready to start back up on August 15 and Stop, Drop & Go is ready to rock and roll. All we need are volunteers. If you’ve volunteered before, you know what to do. If you are new to our community, here’s what we do: Stop, Drop & Go is a valuable program to keep our kids safe during the morning drop off. We need 5 volunteers every morning each week to show up at 7:30 a.m. to set up cones and to help move children quickly and safely from car to school. During the first four weeks of school, we have an open rotation and need you to help. Here is the PTA’s website regarding Stop, Drop & Go: Here is the link to SIGN UP for a morning shift: If you have any trouble with the links, please contact Valerie immediately at Valerie Vitullo & Kate Murphy Stop, Drop & Go...

Outside Lands Parking Fundraiser: Volunteers Needed for 2-3 Hour Shifts

We could still use some help with the upcoming Outside Lands Parking Fundraiser. We are looking really good and have quite a bit of sign-ups already. Just a few more open spots to fill, mostly later in the day, and we will be ready to go. This is one of our biggest, and easiest, fundraisers of the year. Please consider signing up for a shift and help us to raise much needed funds for our school. Last year we raised *$16,000.00 which funded our Outdoor Science teacher for the entire year! The event takes place next weekend, *Friday, August 5th – Sunday, August 7th from 10am – 11pm*. Sign up with a friend or meet someone new. It’s EASY! You do NOT have to park any cars. All you have to do is collect money and hand out a valet ticket. THAT’S IT! Sign up here: Thanks! Darlene Bagley and Chris Smith Parking Fundraiser...

Greetings Wonderful Lafayette Families, It is difficult to believe that we are down to our last few weeks of school.  That being said, there is a lot happening at Lafayette in this short time.  Today the 5th grade students go to Harding Park for golf and the 3rd graders head to ATT park to watch the Giants take on Toronto Blue Jays. Tomorrow is Science Fair Day.  After school between 2 and 4:30 parents are invited to come in and see all the science-based projects and activities that students have engaged in this school year.  Please come and support our Lafayette students.  Snacks provided. Remember that tonight is our last PTA meeting.  We will begin at 6:30 tonight instead of 7 PM.    We will be saying farewell to our dynamic PTA officers who are all terming out this year.  It has been a pleasure to work with all of them over the past two years.  Hope to see you all there. We will have our last Splash Day and our last Spirit Friday sponsored by the PTA.  Please encourage your children to wear Dolphin colors.  Come enjoy a cup of coffee on the yard after intake. I’m looking forward to see you at all our upcoming events including our annual Staff vs. Lafayette kickball game on May 20.  Also, we are excited to see you on May 23 for Field Day! Thank you for all your ongoing support.  Have a great week!  See you here at Lafayette. Best regards, Heath Caceres Wednesday Bulletin 5-11 Raffle Update SFUSD Summer Reading List Fei Tan Academy...
