Being a PTA member is one of the best (and easiest) things you can do to be active in your child’s school life, make their experience at Lafayette extra-special, and to advocate for all of San Francisco's public schools. Be the first to know about all the happenings at the school and throughout the district, and be a part of shaping a most memorable year for our students!
And while the past few years have brought countless challenges, they also brought opportunities for learning and growth around how we all must be active members of our community—supporting those in greatest need and tirelessly fighting against injustice. The PTA is at its foundation an advocacy and activist organization that has been fighting for children and families for more than 100 years. Since its founding in 1897, the California PTA has fought for everything from the creation of public libraries, banning the sale of cigarettes to kids and ensuring the education of migrant children, to limiting environmental pollution, fostering AIDS education and studying juvenile-justice reform. If you are looking for a way to join the fight for a more equitable future, the PTA is the perfect place to start.
Your dues help support much-needed programs and supplies, and will help teachers make decisions that benefit your child's learning. Your participation in the PTA will enable us to offer strong support to teachers and families during a year when it is needed most. Dues are $10* per member, including children.
$4.75 of your dues goes to the National, State, and District PTA, which is constantly working to support our children through outreach, education, lobbying, etc.
Students are encouraged to join as well, and they will receive their own membership card. Show your support, have the whole family join the PTA!
As a member of California State PTA, you advocate for children, promote parent and family involvement in schools, and improve the lives of all children and families.
